The Association Of Independent Music has announced two warm up shows to prepare us for the third edition of its Independent Music Awards thing in September. Apparently the shows will make you very warm indeed, because they take place in June and July, leaving you heated in preparation for two whole months.

Anyway, Little Comets and Dexters will play at The Borderline in London on 14 Jun, while Scritti Politti, Butcher Boy and Trapped Mice will play just around the corner (ish) at 229 on 4 Jul.

The first show has been put together by Xfm’s Mike Walsh, who said: “It is an honour to be judging such a significant awards as the AIM Awards. Xfm has always enjoyed a good relationship with the independent sector, and AIM, and this was a good opportunity to showcase some of our favourite independent artists”.

On his selections for the second show, journalist Pete Paphides said: “When I was asked to curate a show for AIM, Scritti were top of my list. I’m so privileged that they agreed to appear. Anyone drawn to Scritti’s literate pop magic will find something equally special afoot in the music of Butcher Boy and Trapped Mice. Having them both on this bill with Scritti Politti is a dream come true”.

That’s all nice then. Now, let’s all warm up for the warm up shows by going for a jog.
