Anyone for a shortlist of this year’s public-voted American Music Awards nominations? No? Well, you’re having one anyway. Rather than draw this out, I’ll just summarise the headlines in some bullet points:
- Overall most-mentioned artistes Rihanna and Nicki Minaj each have four nominations, while a slightly less acclaimed Justin Bieber and One Direction have two apiece.
- Speaking of One Direction, they square off against Brit boyband rivals The Wanted in the Favourite Pop/Rock Band, Duo Or Group category, a sure-to-be fascinating face-off until 1D win.
- Adele, Kelly Clarkson, and Train are competing to be America’s Favourite Adult Contemporary Artist, which sounds less like an awards category than a dance class.
