Approved: Alice & Michi
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 18 September 2012
Late in 2010, Alice Lin wrote to her friend Michi Wiancko in LA and urged her to relocate to New York so that they could make music together.
It’s the kind of thing friends do all the time, forming imaginary bands and discussing projects that will never come anywhere near close to getting off the ground. But in this case, three months later Wiancko found herself in Lin’s apartment preparing to begin what would become a six month stretch of experimentation, resulting in the duo’s debut album, ‘Strange Bloom’, a nine track collection of songs that mix pop, classical and electronic sounds worth moving to another city for.
Now picked up for release by UK label Bigo & Twigetti, which can always be relied upon to seek out exciting and unusual new music, the album is due for release on 15 Oct. You can pre-order it on Bandcamp right now, and check out opening track ‘Fighter’s below.
