Jasper Erkens had already made a name for himself as a singer-songwriter in his native Belgium by his mid-teens. But right in the middle of his ascension, he made the decision to up sticks and move to London in order to attend the BRIT School. There he met André Fisher, with whom he worked with closely on new project Altrego.
The sound they came up with is a long way from Erkens’ earlier work, layering heavy electronic sounds onto funk tracks with infectious results. First publicy released track, ‘Love Is Flawless’ made its way onto SoundCloud recently, and there’s a five track EP, produced by Björk and Sigur Rós collaborator Valgeir Sigurðsson, ready to go.
