Approved: Aquarium Drunkard – Sidecar podcast
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 8 October 2012
Justin Gage’s California-based blog Aquarium Drunkard is now three transmissions into its new Sidecar podcast, a golden horde of wax-via-digital obscurities, curiosities, rarities and should-be classics.
Amongst the Sidecar spoils so far, some far-out miscellany from Screaming Lord Sutch, The Rolling Stones, Beach Boys and Buffy Sainte Marie, ‘new’ (aka made this decade) tracks by Thee Oh Sees, Allah-Las and Strange Boys, and antique audio in umpteen shades of blues, gospel, psych and soul.
AD’s forte is to shine a searchlight on the lost, less obvious and least appreciated of abiding artists’ magnum opi; be it Nina Simone’s ‘Revolution’, Dion’s ‘Daddy (Rollin In Your Arms)’, Jacques Dutronc’s ‘L’Espace D’Une Fille’, or South Korean ‘guitar guru’ Shin Jung Hoong’s ‘I’ve Got Nothing To Say’:
