With her degree in jazz performance at NTNU in Trondheim, Norway only just finished, singer Emilie Nicolas is already being talked about as someone set for big things in music. However, it seems it might not be as a jazz artist that she becomes known (though her jazz trio Gurls are very much worth checking out), her current solo guise being more pop focussed.

A series of demos posted up on SoundCloud have apparently caught the interest of several labels (though in a recent interview with Natt&Dag she refused be drawn on which). And it’s easy to see why, every track up there is incredibly impressive. She already seems to have a clear idea of her sound and songwriting style.

In fact, so confident in herself is she that her latest track is a cover of popular Norwegian rock band DumDum Boys’s song ‘Pstereo’, which she’s taken and made completely her own – going so far as to translate the lyrics into English. So, by way of an introduction to Nicolas’ talents, let’s begin with that:
