GJan

‘Lithuanian’ and ‘popstar’ might seem like two words I’ve selected at random, if you are yet to be introduced to Lithuanian popstar GJan. Thankfully, I am here to do just that. Though it’s also entirely possible that you don’t need my help here, should you be one of the several million people who have viewed her videos on YouTube to date.

First appearing with a selection of homemade performance videos, GJan soon began releasing properly produced singles, picking up a lot of attention both at home in Lithuania and elsewhere.

Her latest single is the Katy Perry-esque ‘Need Your Love’, while the slightly darker ‘Tattoo’ takes the pace down a notch. But my personal favourite, the video for which you can see below, is her debut single ‘Not Afraid’.

You can catch GJan live at next week’s Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, and when she plays her first UK show at The Garage in London on 13 Oct.
