Le Corps Mince De Françoise

LCMDF, or Le Corps Mince De Françoise to give them their full name (you can see why they shortened it), are Finnish sisters Emma and Mia Kemppainen. They released their debut album, ‘Love & Nature’, via Heavenly in January last year, an LP which echoes the naive bombast of early 90s dance-pop (an influence clearly echoed in their website design too) and which spawned the brilliant single, ‘Take Me To The Mountains’.

Just over a year and a half later, the Kemppainen sisters are following up that album with a trilogy of EPs with the collective title of ‘Mental Health’, part one of which is released via their own label, FAN Recordings, on 29 Oct. The EP’s lead track, ‘I Go Insane’, which you can hear below, is slicker than their earlier output, pushing their influences later into the 90s, but maintains the hooks and clear joy of music making that made the duo interesting in the first place.

That said, the lyrical themes go deeper, inspired after Emma began “studying self-help literature”, she explains: “The first part of the trilogy has to do with the feeling of losing your mind and the coping mechanisms we use to try to keep us from going insane”.
