John Maus’ lunar muse (in that she gave him her 2008 track ‘Hey Moon!’ to release himself in 2011) Molly Nilsson has so far scraped quite the solo niche via five back-to-back LPs, freeing her latest, ‘The Travels’ (and a glib free gift), earlier this year.
Most of Nilsson’s work to date is only playable online in flashes, mainly via the clips on her label Dark Skies Association’s ‘look and listen’ page, making it hard to find a real way into what she is, and does, as an artist.
But I guess if you like the stony-cold Nico-at-the-disco krautisms of songs like 2009’s ‘Won’t Somebody (Take Me Out Tonight)’, or Nilsson’s rave-trifling ‘The Travels’ lead ‘Dear Life’, you won’t mind deep-searching for her discography online. That, or play ‘Hey Moon!’ over and over, which I’m quite happy to do:
