Approved: Nicolas Jaar feat Scout LaRue – With Just One Glance At You

Augmenting the afterglow of ‘Space Is Only Noise’, the much-acclaimed debut album from Chilean-born techno producer Nicolas Jaar, comes stand-alone track ‘With Just One Glance At You’, which was actually released several weeks ago but with barely a mention from its modest author.
Structure-wise it’s more conventional than much of the album, which pastes together spoken word scraps, world music references and shades of various dance sub-genres in agile and eclectic style. The new track is laced with a cocktail of synths, saxophones, and patterns of tense, sonorous rhythm, with vocals by Scout LaRue, the least fortunately named of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’ precocious brood. An unexpected foil, perhaps, but she pitches the part of nonchalant vaudeville femme with natural flair.
Jaar’s live calendar includes but one UK date at London’s Roundhouse on 2 Feb, but consolation comes by way of a complementary cut of ‘Just One Glance’, which is available for streaming below via The 405. Download it for free here on Gorilla Vs Bear.
