Even without the extra I, Pariis Opera House are a band for whom the number of vowels in their name far outstrips the number of songs they have released to date. However, I suspect that they have a lot more stored away (songs, not vowels), because you don’t just pluck pop gems like their debut single ‘IDKWLI’ from nowhere. Also, the snippets of other tracks made available through YouTube and Ustream belie their small catalogue.
Describing themselves at “UK electro space-funk mavericks”, the duo were formerly known separately as Kidd Wolff and Modeon until they came together last year. They released ‘IDKWLI’ in November but made their way into my consciousness via the February edition of the Sentric Music podcast, just as single number two ‘Kepllerstorm’ hit YouTube.
Both tracks, plus ‘IDKWLI’ b-side ’17′, are excellent slices of upbeat electronica – the instrumental ‘Kepllerstorm’ sounding like the soundtrack to a life-affirming montage in an 80s action film, while ‘IDKWLI’ is just under four minutes of 8bit-fuelled, brain-jolting pop, which you can download from Bandcamp and stream here:
