Club Tip CMU Approved
Approved: Social Meltdown at The Social
By Paul Vig | Published on Friday 14 October 2011
In my formative years there were three alternative leftfield dance music DJs on the radio that it was worth staying up late to listen to: Gilles Peterson, Patrick Forge and Ross Allen. And tonight you can find two of the three at one night!
Friday nights at The Social, the rather tidy central London venue just off Oxford Street, are run by former GLR jock Allen. Joining the dots between hip hop, electronica, funk, breaks and beat, 80s soul and disco and then to future boogie and beyond… tonight Ross goes back to back with our man Gilles, who will no doubt try to out do his comrade. Should be good to see how competitive this one gets.
With previous guests in the last two weeks being Afrika Hitech and Andy Weatherall, this night goes from strength to strength. Get there straight after work as this one will be mobbed.
Friday 14 Oct, The Social, 5 Little Portland Street, London W1, 7pm – 1am, free before 9pm, £5 after, more info here.
