Approved: Sonny And The Sunsets
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 17 June 2013
Sonny Smith is a San Francisco-based artist and playwright who spills his many skills into a poly-artistic basin of plays, comic strips and LPs (too many to name in one Approved, so I’d advise flipping back into those via www.sonnysmith.com and/or Spotify). He released ‘Antenna To The Afterworld’, a moonage ode-to-space, love and cannibalism, just days ago.
Its top single, ‘Green Blood’, follows an arc that began in 2010’s Amazonian anti-fantasy ‘Planet Of Women’, and has a cool animation by Teppei Ando to match its strange and strangely heartbreaking earthling-falls-in-love-with-beautiful-alien-lady narrative.
