Approved: Teen Daze – Brooklyn Sunburn (Brothertiger remix)
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 12 March 2012
So, this remix is precisely as billed; namely the work of Canadian chillwave camp Teen Daze redrafted by Brothertiger, aka Ohio-based John Jagos. That the two are regular touring partners, and thus finely in tune with each other’s tones and timbres, means this version of ‘Brooklyn Sunburn’ plays like an only slightly altered reimagining of its initial format, as features on TD’s to-be-released debut LP ‘All Of Us Together’.
Rather than change much of the track just for change’s sake, Jagos instead augments the alpha version with a sugary synth glaze and retro-fit time signature, extracting extra motion and definition from Teen Daze’s more unformed (if as immersive) original. With ‘All Of Us Together’ destined for release via Lefse on 21 May, Teen Daze and Brothertiger (whose first album ‘Golden Years’ is out now) will play the first of three joint English dates at London’s The Lexington on 9 Apr.
