CMU Business Editor Chris Cooke is due to lead two debates over the next month, one in Brighton and one in Manchester.

This Wednesday (7 Nov) he will lead a panel debate at ACUMEDIA, the regular networking event staged by Brighton-based law firm ACUMEN Business Law. Jake Shillingford from BIMM and Jim Kimberley of the band Bruise will tackle the issue of ‘how to make money as a musician in a world full of pirates’. The event takes place at Brighton’s Latest Music Bar, and doors open at 6.30pm. Entry is free.

On Sunday 2 Dec, Chris will also take part in the Wall of Sounds Conference 2 at Band On The Wall in Manchester. He will provide an overview of the music industry in 2012, and ten tips for new bands looking to make it happen, before chairing a panel with label owners and manager Howard Mills, musician and producer Anif Akinola and Band On The Wall CEO Gavin Sharp.

At the same event Vanessa Reed from the PRS For Music Foundation will ask the question “Where are the women in music?”, as well as providing advice on her Foundation’s funding programmes. More info at this link.
