Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers has been forced to pay “substantial” damages to Susan Boyle’s former manager Osmond Kilkenny. The tabloid was found to have falsely suggested that Kilkenny had inaccurately reported the singer’s income to her in an article titled ‘Family at war over SuBo’s millions’ in March last year.
Kilkenny’s solicitor Nicholas Armstrong told the High Court in London yesterday that the allegations made by the Mail were “an unwarranted slur on his character and professional reputation”.
In an apology published on the Daily Mail’s website yesterday, the newspaper said: “We did not intend to suggest that he was likely to manage Miss Boyle’s finances dishonestly and accept this is untrue. We apologise to Mr Kilkenny for this suggestion”.
