CMU Approved
Approved: AlunaGeorge (TGE Gig Previews 2012)
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 3 May 2012
I’m expecting AlunaGeorge’s Great Escape show to be one of the more over-subscribed events at this year’s festival, and not without good reason. Since we first wrote about them last summer much has changed for the duo – vocalist Aluna Francis and producer George Reid – thanks in part to Pitchfork’s belated discovery of their track ‘You Know You Like It’ in a Kreayshawn mixtape.
Perfectly balancing mainstream pop with more experimental R&B production, the duo will re-release ‘You Know You Like It’ via Tri Angle on 11 Jun, along with two new tracks, ‘Put Your Hands Up’ and ‘Just A Touch’, digitally and on vinyl.
But anyway, back to that Great Escape show. The pair will play Coalition on 11 May at 11.30pm, bringing the Friday night to its peak. And earlier in the day delegates will be able to catch their manager, Stars Redmond, on the ‘Making Yourself Label Ready’ panel in the CMU-programmed convention section of the event. Don’t miss either.
