Kim Deal parts with Pixies

Kim Deal

Kim Deal has quit the Pixies. So that’s sad, if amicable.

Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering, who are still in the band, have reacted to Deal’s leaving via Facebook, saying: “We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies. We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best”.

Still fairly active as a solo artist, having released her last single ‘Hot Shot’ back in May, Deal is also playing shows with The Breeders to celebrate the anniversary of their seminal 1993 LP ‘Last Splash’. Oh, and she has that Long Count collaboration going with The National’s Aaron and Bryce Dessner, and her sister Kelley. That’s quite a lot to have on one’s plate, and perhaps explains the Pixies resignation.
