Little Richard considering retirement
By Aly Barchi | Published on Tuesday 3 September 2013
Little Richard has said that he might retire from singing, possibly for all time.
Talking with Rolling Stone, 80 year old Richard Wayne Penniman admitted “I am done, in a sense, because I don’t feel like doing anything right now”, adding that, increasingly, he was giving his spare time over to prayer and fashion design. Quite the combination, that.
A spell of ill health, perhaps traceable back to an emergency heart operation he had back in 2008, meant Penniman had to stop a rare appearance mid-show in Washington last year. He hasn’t played live since.
