Playlist: King Tuff

King Tuff

King Tuff released his eponymous second album via Sub Pop back in May. The follow-up to 2008′s ‘Was Dead’, the long player drew much applause for its high class lo-fi rock n roll, oozing the man himself’s infectious personality.

Next month King Tuff will be over in the UK for two live shows in London, first at the Shacklewell Arms on 11 Sep then The Lexington on 26 Sep. Ahead of that, we asked him to put together a playlist for us, which you can check out below.

01 Big Star – I’m In Love With A Girl
His voice cracks a little bit somewhere on this song and it’s so perfect.

02 Gap Dream – Leather
First time I heard this I was like: “Fuck”.

03 Magic Jake And The Power Crystals – Deeper Than Sleep
So dark and so good.

04 10cc – Rubber Bullets
I just wish this song didn’t have that stupid Beach Boys part in the middle.

05 Green Day – Going To Pasalacqua
My tween years summed up in a song.

06 Cheap Trick – On Top Of The World
Sick phaser on the guitar.

07 The Wipers – Messenger
Love it love it love it.

08 Heavy Cream – Run Free
So many good bands coming out of Nashville, Tennessee. Heavy Cream are so classic sounding and also they are such babes!

09 White Fence – Baxter Corner
I see this guy every day on the Baxter Street corner. I’m pretty sure we both wake up at 2pm every day.

10 Guided By Voices – Glad Girls
Took me a while to get into GBV but now I’m hoooooked.
