Robin Thicke says VMA performance “naughty”, not “sexual”
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 16 September 2013
Oh, those blurred lines. Robin Thicke says we’ve got it all wrong about his performance with Miley Cyrus at the VMAs last month. It wasn’t sexual, it was just naughty. If only everyone would learn the difference between the two, life would be so much easier.
Thicke told MTV News: “We’re entertainers, and the VMAs [are] the perfect place for a little shock and awe. We kind of knew when we were in rehearsal and we were like, ‘Okay, if you touch me with your foam finger all over my crotch, obviously a few people are going to have something to say about this’. But that was the whole point! The whole point was to excite and provoke and entertain. I thought it was silly and funny. She was being humorous and naughty, but it wasn’t sexually charged at all”.
Next week, Robin Thicke explains how eating meat is vegetarian.
