Snow Patrol lose keyboardist to solo endeavours
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 19 August 2013
One of Snow Patrol, keyboardist Tom Simpson, is no longer a part of the band, having played one final time with Gary Lightbody and co last week at Ireland’s Tennent’s Vital festival.
Breaking news of Simpson’s leaving mid-set, Lightbody was heard to say: “There is a slightly sad element to this gig. Tom Simpson has been in Snow Patrol since 1996 and tonight in Belfast is his last gig. Tom is going his separate way, he’s decided he wants to do his own thing. We support him and love him as a brother”.
Tom himself, seen here menacing his farewell cake, added via Gary’s Twitter: “Thank you to all our fans. Feeling heavy hearted today. It’s been an amazing journey but I’ve come home now. God bless you all”.
Ah, that’s nice.
