Uni Music League

The previously reported Uni Music League is about to enter its semi-finals stage, after a series of heats earlier in the year saw student bands from 25 universities around Southern England compete. The semi-finals will now take place at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on 9 and 16 Apr, before a final at the Islington Academy in 9 May.

Commenting on this year’s competition so far, co-founder Karol Severin told CMU: “The quality of the acts this year has been truly outstanding. The musical variety has seen sitar players go up against rappers, electro-indies vs solo acoustics, psychedelic blues vs folk. This variety has become a feature of UML this year, with acts from all over the South, from over 25 universities, and all at different stages in their development”.

This year’s competition has also included a photography strand, and co-founders Severin and Daniel Zawadzki say they hope to further expand the remit of the programme in future years, as well as involving universities from across the UK.
