Universal Publishing US to Crunch streaming royalties
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 14 July 2011
Universal Music Publishing in the US has announced it will start using data management services from a company called Crunch Digital to monitor and manage royalties generated by streaming music platforms. According to Crunch, its PDX Service “centralises data flow under licenses from publishers to the licensed music services and improves the accuracy of royalty reporting”.
Confirming their deal with Universal’s publishing division, Crunch Digital’s CEO Keith Bernstein told reporters: “We found that the reporting and collection methods in the marketplace for music publishers licensing digital services aren’t working. Inaccurate reporting means less money going into pockets of publishers and songwriters. Universal is one of the largest music copyright owners, so choosing Crunch Digital as a data partner can help simplify reporting for the digital music services while improving Universal’s collections”.
