Vigsy’s New Year Tips: Lost at Plastic People

Juan Atkins

OK, so here’s my second suggestion of where to spend the transition between 2011 and 2012, and it’s a sixteen hour long party put on by one of London’s premiere techno nights, Lost. If you are remotely interested in Detroit Techno and haven’t heard of Lost over its fifteen years, then you have been sorely missing out. Amongst many great names, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, and Richie Hawtin have all made repeat attendances.

On New Year’s Eve, Lost has roped in the massive Detroit star that is Juan Atkins, aka Model 500/Cybotron. He is one of the founding fathers of the genre, and one of the Belleville Three, alongside Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May. He’ll be backed up by Chris Carrier and Lost resident/Cosmic Records head honcho Steve Bicknell. Also in the mix will be Tomoki Tamura, Eightbitrate, Toru, Jon Bengry and Leon Clarkson.

Will be a big one.

Saturday 31 Dec, Plastic People, The Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, E1 6QL, 8am NYE – 12pm NYD, £15 – £25, more information from here.
