| UnLimited Media makes its CMU music news available to other print and online media through its content syndication service.
There are three kinds of music news content syndication available – a free option, a low-cost option and a bespoke content creation service. Any media wishing to make use of any of these services, including the free option, must now apply for a content syndication licence. There is no cost associated with applying for or receiving this licence, over and above any service provision costs. Each licence runs for 12 months, though content published online by a syndicator under a valid licence can stay live permanently once published, even once the licence has expired.
Details of each kind of content syndication, what they involve and how to apply to use these services are given below. Licences for the free and low-cost options can normally be issued within seven days of application.
We have set up these content syndication packages because an increasing number of media have approached us asking if they can carry our content. The free package has been created because, while we incur direct costs in creating CMU news content, we recognise the potential promotional benefit of this content being syndicated elsewhere, and want to embrace the web-philosophy of sharing intellectual property where it is viable to do so. We feel the promotional benefits we ask for in return are nominal and fair, and shouldn't result in any costs for syndicators.
The existence of these syndication licences, including the free package, does not mean UnLimited is wavering its copyrights in any content published on theCMUwebsite.com. We ask that anyone who wishes to use our content over and above 'fair usage' as in defined in UK copyright law do so under the terms of one of these licences.
